On Tuesday 7 April the Fair Work Bill received Royal Assent, which means that it officially became law, and will commence on 1 July 2009. Practical changes include:
New unfair dismissal provisions and new rules about small business employees having access to the jurisdiction; Amended right of entry arrangements; and Replacement of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission, the Workplace Ombudsman and the Workplace Authority by a new body, Fair Work Australia
